Welcome to HOME IS. My name is Eve Marie Mugar. I teach yoga, and am a student of clinical social work at NYU. (I also have a background as an actress, and am a lover of all forms of creative expression including playing piano, writing, and painting). I created HOME IS to share some of the practices that have changed my life, along with practices that help the people I work with.
I have been exploring Eastern spiritual concepts and practices for 15 years including 1 intensive year at Kripalu Center. Nothing has helped me live a happier and more peaceful day to day life than my practice of yoga &meditation, and I believe even 5 minutes of some of these practices could make a big difference in your life, too! I know how hard it can be to find the time to implement new habits so I plan to offer practices that can easily be done in just 5 minutes. I will begin by having 1 offering per week, and each offering will build upon the last. These will include breath exercises, meditations, yoga poses, and self care practices all with the goal of helping you to feel more at home within yourself. I named this account “home__is__” because nothing is more important to me than finding home within myself no matter where I am, and no matter what I’m doing. When my meditation practice became about finding home within myself, an inner sanctuary, everything changed.
In my early twenties I began to suffer from chronic pain. All aspects of my life were colored with this pain to the point of experiencing moments of deep despair. Until, I found my way home. And I found ways to return home, again and again. My meditations became blissful experiences, I made friends with my body and my mind, I learned to observe my experiences from within my inner sanctuary, and I found a safe place to be no matter my external location. I look forward to sharing with you what helped me get to that place so you can begin to integrate some of these practices and see if they help you, too. And for those with already established practices let me know if you want to guest post to share with the community what makes YOU feel at home. Thanks for joining me on this journey + feel free to message me to connect!
